Why a map makes a personal gift

A map centered on the right coordinates says more than a generic print — where you met, your first home, the town you grew up in. Map Builder lets you style that exact spot yourself, in your own colors, and export it print-ready. No design software or account is needed to try it.

Find the exact spot

Search requires a Map Builder Pro subscription. On the free tier, the fastest way to jump straight to an address is the Import tab (left rail): paste a Google Maps link for the location and the map centers there automatically. From there, pan and zoom to frame it exactly how you want.

Recolor it to match the gift

The Style tab lists every map feature — roads, water, landscape, buildings, parks — as a tree. Click any row to pick its fill and stroke color, or start from one of the 20+ built-in presets (Classic, Night, Blueprint, Pastel, and more) and fine-tune from there. Applying a preset never locks anything.

Mark the moment

Add a Marker overlay for the exact point that matters, or a Text element for a date, names, or coordinates. Both are fully restylable — color, size, alignment, rotation — and can be dragged into position afterward.

Get it print-ready

A 2048px PNG is free, no account required. For a larger wall print, the "For print" export mode prices by drawing scale and DPI instead of pixels — pick a scale and quality tier and it tells you the physical size and price before you pay. For something you’ll laser-engrave, CNC-route, or resize repeatedly, export SVG instead: a true vector file, not a fixed-resolution image.

Selling what started as a gift

Every export bakes in the required OpenStreetMap attribution, so it’s safe to print, frame, or sell without running into Google’s map-licensing restrictions — worth knowing if a one-off gift turns into a small side business.
